Georgia Stitt (born June 17, 1972) is an American composer and a lyricist.

Early life

Stitt spent her childhood in Covington TN. She attended Vanderbilt University and received a B.Mus. degree in Music Theory and Composition, and New York University M.F.A. for a degree in Musical Theater Writing.

Career

Stitt began her career in New York City as a conductor and musical director on shows such as the Little Shop of Horrors,[1] Avenue Q, Sweet Smell of Success, The Music Man, Titanic, Annie, and the national tour of Parade.[2][3]

Stitt composed for the musical The Water,[4][5][6] which won the 2008 ANMT “Search for New Voices in American Musical Theatre” .[7]

She has also composed for the musicals Big Red Sun,[8] Sing Me A Happy Song,[9][10][11] Mosaic,[12][13] and Hello! My Baby.[14][15]

Stitts recorded music includes: This Ordinary Thursday: The Songs Of Georgia Stitt,[16][17] Alphabet City Cycle,[18] De Profundis, Joyful Noise,[19] A Better Resurrection and The Promise of Light.[20]

Stitt was the vocal coach for the 2008 season of "America's Got Talent”[21] the on-camera vocal coach for the NBC reality TV show “Grease: You’re The One That I Want”[22] and the production music coordinator for the Disney/ABC TV musical “Once Upon A Mattress” starring Tracey Ullman and Carol Burnett.[23]

Stitt contributed two songs to the 2008 MTV movie The American Mall.[24]

Personal

Since 2003, Stitt has been married to fellow theatre composer Jason Robert Brown.[2]
